As we are moving onto Algebra I have attached some Maths games that your children can play to practice their learning so far this year. If they are not sure what stage they are working at, tell them to ask me and I will provide some direction for them. Alternatively, have them start at the stage five games and work their way up or down depending on how easy or difficult the tasks are for them. Alternatively, your child also has a Mathletics account that they are able to access from home in order to practice and repeat the skills that they learn in class and to play other maths games on also.
Please remember that books are due at school every Monday to be signed off. Homework is 20 minutes reading a night. Please help your child keep a written record of what they are reading. Mathletics can also be completed at home and your child has their password in this book.
Parents are invited in to join in and participate in our International Sports unit on Wednesday afternoon from 1.20 – 2.20. If you come along to this please wear your child’s house colours. What we are learning this week: · Maths: Multiplication and division · Maths strand: Area · Writing: Persuasive writing (Sample) · Reading: Future Learning - Energy · Afternoon Programme: International Sports My email address is [email protected] if you wish to contact me for anything. Alternatively, please feel free to come and visit before or after school. Thank You Sarah McMenamin This aspect of the blog is where I will be communicating with you about what the students are learning and special things that are happening within the classroom each week. Please check this weekly as the home communications for the week will be posted on either a Sunday or a Monday night. In addition to this, students will still be required to do 30 minutes reading a night on a text of their choice, have this signed off by you and bring this in to be sighted by myself. This will still be recorded in the home communications book and will be discussed and clarified with students. Thank you in advance for your help and support. Sarah McMenamin |
