This is the junior keeper program that came to Lynmore school from Rainbow Springs. They talked about what they do at the junior keeper program and showed us reptiles and birds. They also talked about how to treat animals and give them the respect they deserve. It was an interesting talk and they showed us about the cruel backgrounds they come from. It was an inspiring talk and made you want to look after the birds.

Recently we have performed our marimba music to our class. We did this because Mr Freeman wanted to test our ability in music. We learnt how to setup and write the music in a certain way. We also learnt how to memorise and play our own music. This was fun because we could makeup our own music and put our tune in our own way. We all really hope we can do this again some other time.
By Stevie and Alysha Over the past couple of weeks we have been reading different novels and doing different jobs.
This week my job is the word master and my WALT is to: identify the meaning of unknown words using a range of strategies. So... I can decode word when I read and understand the text more carefully. My word was 'gipsy'. Word masters have to pick out different words that we don't know and find the definition of the word, I also had to put the definition in my own words, put down different words that have a similar meaning (e.g. tourist/traveller.) draw the word and use the word in a sentence (e.g. Our gipsy caravan has black, blue, red and purple patterns all over it with window box flowers.) Here is my picture: By Stevie the past 3 weeks or class have been analyzing novels for our reading work.my job this week was discussion director. What the discussion directors job is to write down 3 main questions to ask the members of our group here are my questions
1)what message dose the author want to the reader to know? 2)what is the main point of the story? 3)how dose this support your point? and we have to mark then to ours S.C
WALT ask probing questions that are designed to make me and others evaluate our thinking so... we can begin to critically analyse stories and evaluate what the author has written and why by Will This week my job was connector. I had to make connections between the text, my self, other texts and and the world. Once I had done this I chose to do an extension card. My WALT was to relate to the character and the task was make a list of all the qualities a character has. I chose to do this on Wordle and wrote down the words that I thought described Mr Foster best heaps of times so they would come up bigger. Here is an example of my wordle. By Jack
Today I have been learning how to (WALT) identify passages that capture our interest for a variety of reasons and explain theses.
So.....that we can begin to identify the purpose that the author may have had for writing this novel. These are my passages that I have chosen...... This is what I have to do. choose 3 passages to share with the group. Here are some ideas for why I might pick this passage. The passage can be... Well-written funny thought-provoking confusing surprising or it could have good dialogue, set a mood or show a trait in a particular character. This is one passage. page 75 paragraph 1 here is the paragraph... 'Keep going,' he gasped. 'Come on. We can make it.' ,There's the hedge I said, waving the torch. We're nearly there. HOP... HOP... HOP... When we reached the hedge, my legs gave way and we both crashed to the ground. 'I'm pick this passageppppppppppppppppppppp Have you read an amazing novel? Well at the moment I (Dylan) have been reading a story you will like. It is called 'The Real Thing' - if you have not read it please do, it is amazing. Here is a sentence that I think you will like.
But, nevertheless, here she was, with her hands now tied in front of her with her with one of those dreadful, cheap plastic ties they used to tie up plants, sitting in the back of a black van with no windows speeding to an unknown place in the Bahamas. Don't you think this sentence is descriptive? I do! I hope you enjoyed reading that sentence. Dylan Do you think summarising is important? Well it is. To me and Mana this tool helps with a lot of things especially in writing. I have started to use this a lot more in year 6 because it can be helpful to the year six tasks. I have learnt how to summarise very well with help of my teacher Miss M and my friends. Here is a very quick summary of the twits hope you enjoy.
The Twits The main part of the story is the twits making people miserable and playing pranks and thinking its funny and in the end they die. Do you agree because I strongly do. If you think im wrong please leave a comment and please give me some things I could improve on. Hope you enjoyed our post thank you. By Dylan and Mana At the moment we have been learning how to use Summarize, Connector, Passage picker, Discussion dictator, and Word master and my one is Word master and this is my success criteria. Word Master: 1. Use a dictionary to find the meaning of the words.
2. Skim and scam to find the meaning of the words that don't know. 3. Ask other groups about the word that you are stuck on. 4. Put the word into common language. 5. Choose a word that you don't know the meaning of. And there are more but they aren't mine thank you for reading this and maybe you can use it in your reading. from Alyzae. |
